4 July: Wardsboro's July 4th parade
.
A man in the crowd described Wardsboro's 4th as "the biggest little parade in the world." Maybe, especially if you take into account that after the paraders come down from their marshalling yard on the South Wardsboro Road, travel a few hundred feet on VT 100 and then proceed along the two blocks of Main Street, they turn around and retrace the route. Which means if you miss something the first time, you get a chance to catch it on the return. It's a big time for the town of 854 people (the cornet band comes from Grafton [pop 649) and Boy Scouts from Townshend [pop 1,149]).
There was a quilt show at the Methodist Church
And a batch of classic automobiles and firetrucks (classic and new). Not to mention an old bicycle--
